Trust everyone survived the Halloween experience once again. We still have some treats for you if you join us next Saturday, 11/8, at 10:00 AM, for our next NIKK workshop at John Miller's home at 8178 N Chateaux Dr., Hayden, ID 208-762-1049.

Here are the treats that I mentioned to you earlier in the above paragraph.

1. You will see John’s new koi pond with the 2008 IEWG&KS Koi & Goldfish Show Supreme Grand Champion swimming very happily in her new digs. Yes, John has all* of koi in his new pond (which of course is up and running). * John has several other koi at a local vendor that will be spending the winter in those facilities.

2. The second treat:  Dan & Sharon Olson, Greg & Judy Linnebach will be sharing a digital photo show with explanations as to why they took the particular photo they are sharing with us of their recent trips, Japan and New Jersey mud pond pulls.

3. Our third treat awaiting us is John cooking up a lunch for all attendees. Yes, there will be a homemade stew and a “cowboy” bean & meat dish served with other embellishments. Wow!

Now, there is a nominal exercise that you will need to accomplish before hand to enjoy the last two treats mentioned above. While observing John’s koi swimming in their new digs, John would like a hand in covering his pond with clear plastic sheeting. Many hands should make this about a fifteen-minute project. John has the PVC framework already in place and the weighted PVC tubes of sand & gravel to hold the cover in place. All we need to do is stretch/roll out the plastic and put it in place, then put the weighted PVC tubes on the outer edges of the plastic cover to hold in place.   I have included for you several pictures of John’s pond, including one with the PVC frame that the sheeting will be stretched over.

Directions:  I-90 East to Exit 7, State Route 41 (Rathdrum/Spirit Lake) (this is a long exit, move over to the left side of exit – traffic light at end of off ramp) Turn left onto Seltice Way (divided hwy) and proceed to 1st traffic, stay either in left hand lane or middle lane and make a left at light. This is Route 41.  Proceed north on SR41 until Prairie Ave. (traffic light)(Heritage Baptist Church on left hand side, south of intersection, north of intersection is Northland Nursery, a tree nursery) Turn right at Prairie Ave. and proceed East on Prairie Ave.  You will see Huetter Road, Atlas Road and now you are getting close to John’s subdivision, “Strawberry Fields” Flags at subdivision entrance, Courcelles Parkway and proceed to a traffic circle, stay right and exit a first right, Chateaux Dr. and proceed to 8178 Chateaux Dr., (house is on the right hand side of road).
